Becoming Members

Please read the instruction below to become a FAGC Member.

Section 1 : Qualifications

  • Evidence of experience of regeneration – the New Birth(John 1:12, 3:3-8, 1 Peter 1:8,25)
  • Evidence of a consistent Christian life (Romans 6:4;8:10;13:13, Eph 4:17-32;5:1,2 John 1:1,6,7)
  • Subscribe fully to the tenets of faith as set forth in this constitution.
  • Active participation in the life and ministry of the church.
  • Willingness to contribute regularly to the support of the Assembly by consistent and generous giving as the Lord prospers. (2 Cor. 8:9-11).
  • Readiness to be governed by the constitutional rules of order adopted by the Assembly.
  • The use and abuse of drugs, tobacco, alcoholic beverages are unbecoming of Christian believers.
  • Believers are expected to be modestly dressed and avoid patronizing commercial cinemas.
  • Members shall refrain from joining any secret order which is recognized as contrary to our Statement of Faith and practice

Section 2: Categories

  • Full Membership: They shall have the privilege of participation in the Annual Members Meeting and holding offices in the Assembly.
  • Associate Membership: They shall not have the privilege of participation in the Annual Meetings and holding any office in the Assembly.
  • Junior Membership: Young people may join the Sunday school and/or the Youth Department as they meet the requirements for these.

Section 3: Reception of Members

  • Those desiring to become official members of the Assembly shall apply in the prescribed form to the Pastor or Secretary, who shall present such applications to the Deacon Board.
  • Members shall be accepted on at least a two-third majority, including the Senior Pastor’s vote.
  • All those who have met the membership requirements, which may include attending some classes, shall be received into the fellowship publicly at any one of the regular worship services. This could be done two or more times a year.

Section 4: Transfer of Membership

  • Members who may desire to be transferred to some other congregation may apply in writing to the Pastor/Secretary for a letter of transfer. The said letter is to be signed by the Pastor and the Secretary.
  • Those seeking membership of this Assembly on transfer from another Assembly of God church may be accepted on the basis of a letter signed by the Pastor of the said assembly.

Article 3: Discipline

Section 1

The following shall be considered as sufficient grounds for suspension or disqualification from the membership of the Assembly:

  • Unscriptural conduct or departure from the tenets of faith held by this Assembly (Matt 18:15; Rom 16:17,18; 1 Cor 5:11; Gal 1:8,9)
  • Working against the interests of the Assembly.
  • Violation of the Constitution and Bye-Laws of this assembly.

Section 2

Continuous absence from the church services for more than six months without sufficient or valid reasons may cause the member to be put in the Inactive List of Membership.

Section 3

The Pastor and the Deacon Board are authorized to revise the membership roster and to remove from the list of members such as those who may have become disqualified and/or those who have been suspended from membership. The Pastor and the Deacon Board shall confer with such members, if possible, before their names are removed from the membership.
